Boycott Bank of America

Tue Dec 9, 2008, 9:42 AM
Bank of America has caused alot of pain since this economic crisis made it to the front pages of America's news stands. They have since received 25 billion dollars in American tax payer money. Only to deny it to a business in good standing, forcing it to fail, and denying it's employees severance pay.

Chicago Breaking News.com

A standoff between workers at Republic Windows & Doors and its owners and bank over the plant's closing stretched into a fifth day after talks produced no agreement despite considerable political pressure and threats of investigations.

The 240 union workers staging a sit-in at the plant on Goose Island in Chicago decided to stay put at least until negotiations between their representatives and company owners and Bank of America continue Tuesday afternoon.

On Monday, workers were visited by a parade of politicians, including Gov. Rod Blagojevich and U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), who voiced their support for the workers while threatening Republic and Bank of America with lost business, legal action and federal inquiry. At City Hall, Chicago aldermen called for hearings on Republic, which had received about $10.4 million in city redevelopment funds as of the end of 2007, according to city documents.

Workers have been occupying the building since its abrupt closing Friday. They are protesting the loss of what they said is vacation and severance pay they've earned and the lack of notice about the closing. The federal WARN Act requires 60-day notice of a plant's closing.

While this is taking place the bailout money that B of A was given is now being sent to China in the form of investments in a Chinese Government run Car Company: Economy In Cirsis.org

Just one month after receiving $25 billion form the Treasury to stave off disaster, Bank of America spent $7 billion to increase its holdings of China Construction Bank.

In mid October Bank of America was one of the hand-selected institutions to receive the first phase of the $700 billion bailout package. As one of the world’s largest banks, Bank of America was deemed suitable for a cash infusion by the Treasury Department in order to shore up its assets and get the bank to open up its channels for lending. Bank of America is apparently lending, but it is lending overseas rather than to beleaguered home and business owners in the United States who desperately need a hand.

One of the main reasons that the public was so unified in its opposition to the financial bailout was their belief that the recipient banks would not use the money for the right purposes. We have already seen American International Group executives take lavish and luxurious vacations while the government scrambled to shovel more money their way. We also saw bailout recipients use the funding to start buying up competitors via Treasury-backed mergers and acquisitions. Now it seems that our tax dollars can easily be spent in foreign direct investment overseas, rather than here at home where it is needed.

The move by Bank of America also puts money into the hands of the Chinese government as they begin collecting money to fund their own nearly $600 billion bailout and rescue operation. Essentially, the United States Treasury has gifted $7 billion dollars of your money to the Chinese government with Bank of America as an intermediary.

Right after all of this the governor of Illinois, who has stood in solidarity with the protesters was arrested on what appears to be a retaliatory move. Just a bit too coincidental to me.

Faux News

Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich and his chief of staff John Harris were arrested Tuesday morning in Chicago on two counts each of federal corruption charges stemming from allegations Blagojevich was trying to sell President-elect Barack Obama's vacated Senate seat to the highest bidder.

The arrest is part of a three-year probe of "pay-to-play politics" in the governor's administration. The criminal complaint by the FBI says each man was arrested on two charges of conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and solicitation of bribery.

The charges also relate to allegations that Blagojevich and Harris schemed with previously convicted defendants and Obama associates Antoin Rezko, Stuart Levine, Ali Ata and others to arrange financial benefits in exchange for appointments to state boards and commissions, state employment, state contracts and access to state funds.

Blagojevich and Harris will have an initial appearance in U.S. District Court Tuesday.

A statement by U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald and FBI Special Agent-in-Charge Robert Grant said Blagojevich and Harris "allegedly conspired to sell U.S. Senate appointment, engaged in pay-to-play schemes and threatened to withhold state assistance to Tribune Company for Wrigley Field to induce purge of newspaper editorial writers."

"The breadth of corruption laid out in these charges is staggering," Fitzgerald said in a statement.

"Blagojevich put a for sale sign on the naming of a United States Senator; involved himself personally in pay-to-play schemes with the urgency of a salesman meeting his annual sales target; and corruptly used his office in an effort to trample editorial voices of criticism," he added.

Seems that if you mess with the big banks on the federal payroll you either get killed or this happens to you. Welcome to what it looks like to live under the financial dictatorship of the international banking cartels. BOYCOTT B of A.
Because they seemed to have boycotted America.
